Frequently Asked Questions

Who is making Farmwand?
Farmwand is being developed by Irreverent Software, a small indie dev team based in Mexico. We've always wanted to make a video game, so now we are working hard on our dream project!

We are currently handling publishing duties ourselves as well, but we're open to partnering with some amazing people that may help us bring Farmwand to more platforms.

When is the game coming out?
Short answer? Whenever it is ready. Longer answer? We are working on a fully fledged demo for early 2025 and an Early Access before the end of the year. But being a tiny team working in a big game is not easy to set any deadlines in stone.

Which platforms is the game going to be available on?

On release we are supporting Windows PC via Steam. More platforms and storefronts may be available at a later date, but we can't confirm any at this moment.

Which languages is the game available on?
At the moment we fully support English, Spanish and Simplified Chinese. We plan to add more languages as we keep developing the game and as support from our community grows. We need enough budget and enough players to ensure that every localization is done with the utmost care and that as many players as possible get to fully enjoy Farmwand as intended!

Is Farmwand a "kid's game"?
While we would consider Farmwand a family-friendly game, it is by no means directed at children. Despite its cutesy aesthetic it is firstly a fantasy RPG, and as such there are elements that may be a bit frightening or too mature for the little ones (such as people drinking / smoking in the taverns, some themes dealing with death and discrimination, etc. )

Is there combat in Farmwand?
Yes, there is combat. While not mandatory and quite adjustable in its difficulty, you will need to face some fiends and foes if you plan to explore the world of the game in its entirety and complete the main quest. But you can always just stay cozy at home and leave the "adventuring" to others!

Can you date and marry people in Farmwand?
Yep! There are several marriable characters in the game at the moment, with more coming as we continue developing it. And in local-coop you can marry your favorite player 2 instead!

Can you have pets?
Of course! Dogs, cats and all manner of birds are available. Smaller pets such as fishes, hamsters and more are something we're actively working on.

Can you do magic?
That's kind of our deal! In Farmwand you play as a Saege, a magical creature that can perform all sorts of magical spells and use many different magical devices for all kinds of things. Saeges are not quite human, and they play a crucial role in the world of our game. But that role, you must discover yourself!

What else can you do in the game?
You can decorate, cook, farm, gather mushrooms, go to parties, celebrate town holidays, make friends, read under the shadow of an old tree, go listen to the different musicians in the town squares, explore distant lands, fish, fly your broom, pet the dog / cat / unicorn, help the townsfolk, discover ancient mysteries, meet magical creatures and forest spirits...and so much more!

Is Farmwand an LGBTQ+ friendly game?
We are certainly trying our very best! In Farmwand, you can pick your pronouns and your character has no defined gender. All outfits and appearance modifiers are available and can be mixed however you want. On top of this, many of the in-game characters and NPCs are LGBTQ+ themselves.

What about accessibility?
You can play Farmwand with a controller, keyboard and or mouse. We are working on several control schemes and some customization for each of them so that players of many different skill and mobility levels can enjoy our game. Adjustable font and UI sizes, color options for easier visibility, optional sound cues and more are also being worked on.

OK I'm in, but I want to know more. Where can I?
You can always join our Discord and reddit communities, which is where we post all of our updates and interact directly with the community. You can talk to other fans of the game, give feedback, participate in polls and hear before anyone else whatever we are working on and planning to add. You can also wishlist our game on Steam and click on the "Follow" button to get notifications whenever we post a new devlog or any other announcements.

I like the music! Who made it?
The music of our game was composed by the talented Sean McRoberts. You can find him here.

What about your cover art? That's a really nice drawing!
Our cover art and Steam art were lovingly drawn by Daniel Pinal (aka DanielPinalArts).
